Rebecca Harned outlines policy priorities for NH Senate District 7
ANDOVER, NH — Rebecca Harned, candidate for New Hampshire's 7th Senate District, announced her policy priorities for her 2026 campaign at a fundraiser in Andover. Drawing on her experience as a research scientist, federal public servant, and member of the Kearsarge Regional School District Municipal Budget Committee, Rebecca is running to deliver the kind of responsible, commonsense leadership that puts SD7 families first.
"Property taxes are putting serious pressure on families and seniors across our district. At the same time, insufficient state investment in public schools is hurting property values and slowing small business and economic growth" said Harned. "The solution is straightforward: responsible state spending, stronger accountability, greater efficiency, and common-sense fiscal reforms that provide relief without shifting costs onto local residents. Our goal is simple—make the state government work for the people who fund it. Every resident should be able to afford a home, every child should have access to a quality public education, and every family deserves relief from a property tax burden that has been rising for years."
Fiscal Responsibility
Rebecca believes that New Hampshire’s government should live within its means, just like the families and small businesses of SD7 do every day. That means cutting excess spending where it exists and making sure every taxpayer dollar is spent effectively. New Hampshire can and must meet its obligations without passing burdens onto future generations.
No Income or Sales Tax
Rebecca will never support a broad-based income or sales tax. She understands that New Hampshire's low-tax, business-friendly environment is what keeps communities vibrant and attracts new opportunities. She is committed to defending that tradition while encouraging sustainable, responsible growth.
Lower Property Taxes
Rising property taxes are putting real pressure on families, seniors, and small businesses across Senate District 7. Rebecca's approach focuses on responsible state spending and finding real relief for property taxpayers without shifting costs unfairly onto communities that can least afford it. She is committed to working toward solutions that make staying in your home more affordable across every stage of life.
Public Education
Rebecca believes local communities know their children best, and that strong public schools are the foundation of strong communities. As a member of the Kearsarge Regional School District Municipal Budget Committee, she has seen firsthand the impact of state education policy on local schools and local taxpayers. Rebecca is committed to ensuring every student in New Hampshire has access to high-quality public education while protecting local control and local decision-making.
